Updates

I have updates that I have neglected to give you.

1. I will be a lucky member of the audience at Lady Gaga's concert later this month. I am ecstatic and cannot wait! I will be wearing full costume, wig, face paint, attire. Pictures will follow. I've attached a link so you can find a tour date near you. (Just click this post's title, Updates) I also changed this week's quote in honor of Gaga. This is from an interview she did with a Canadian reporter.

2. More concert news. For my birthday, I received tickets to see Owl City in February. I have been a huge fan since last April and am really looking forward to the concert. It is held at small venue, so it should be quite intimate and personal. It's further away then Gaga, but I have quite a bit to look forward to!

3. I just read "A Million Little Pieces" this past week. It was intense and beautifully frightening. I know there was quite a bit of scandal involving the facts in the novel, but the overall message and journey is still worth reading. I could not put it down, although at some parts it got tough to follow. It is written as a stream of consciousness, ignoring basic grammatical rules. It gives a glimpse into the twisted and dysfunctional life of an addict. I read it more as a fictional novel than an actual autobiography due to the fact that many of his accounts were fabricated and exaggerated.

Procrastination at its Finest.

Thanks to finals, I really have perfected my ability to procrastinate. Don't get me wrong, my skills were quite well before this week, but since Monday, I have gone to an entire new level of not-studying.

Thanks to an intense regiment of library hours-usually from noon till midnight-my ADD has taken a new and intense turn. Simple things seem to capture to my attention and draw me away from my purpose. The distractions are welcomed focuses other than notes and text books pages, study guides and flashcards.

One second I am focusing on this...

And then my vision has shifted to counting tiles on the wall! I honestly counted how many dots are on each square. What is that!

Youtube and Facebook have been my influencing accomplices. On the upside, it is Wednesday, and I only have three more. Three more till Holiday Freedom. Three more till Sleep and Television and Lounging. Oh how I cannot wait! I'm simply beaming with the anticipation.

Now that I have wasted a sufficient and respectable amount of time, it is time to refocus on my management notes. They won't read themselves you know...

A Heartfelt Letter to Finals

Dear Finals,

I hate you. You deprive me of quality time with all my loved ones such as Pillow, Television, and Lazyness. I really wish you would leave and never come back. You're ruining my life. Life ruiner.

Sincerely.

Yes, that did happen.

Today, I meandered my way to the library in a daze at 9:30 in the morning as was my routine. I have a break in between classes and try to spend it productively, although it usually consists of facebooking and googling.

In my barely conscious state, I stepped to the automatic sliding doors, not giving heed or paying an ounce of attention. BOOM. The automatic doors closed on me. I was startled and confused, the daze disappearing as the door pressed on my arm, trying to squish me between it.

The girl behind me is laughing as I let out what can only be typed as a GAHHH. After I squeezed through successfully and unharmed, I giggled at myself too. How can an automatic door close on you?

Yes, that did happen.

Are you there blog?

Once again, I have neglected you. The start of another month is upon us. November seemed to fly by, and it was afterall my birthday month. School and work were the priorities and not to mention football.

The Who Dats are out in full force, as my boys march on undefeated in the league. Who dat say they gonna beat dem Saints? Who dat! For my birthday, I was lucky enough to get a Brees jersey. I considered wearing it for an entire week without taking it off, but I figured it would start to smell and people would judge me. Needless to say, I nixed that idea.

Thanksgiving consisted of gorging myself into oblivion and passing out from food exhaustion. I did love my outfit for the day of celebration though. It consisted of a high waisted black skirt with a white tucked in tank and a green sweater. I also sported black stockings with black heeled booties. I have to commend myself on my style fashion. I can look good when I want to, I just rarely want to.

Hopefully December will bring more excitement, and more blog dedication on my part.

Au revoir!

The Beginning of November

To update you, Halloween was not as rambunctious as expected. I ended up not feeling 100% and only dressed in costume on Halloween's eve. From Saturday afternoon till Sunday Night, I slept 22 out of the 27 hours. I finally had to go to the doctor on Sunday and get a shot in the rear. It was a horrific experience that I try not to relive.

With Sunday came to beginning of the month of November, which in my opinion is the best month. Not only is it my birth month, but I began my first NaNoWriMo. The goal is to write 1,667 words a day to reach a grand total of 50,000 words by the end of the month, a nice sized novel.

It is a lot of stress right now, and I am of course behind. School is bogging me down, and work is getting in the way as well. I will post a clip of my ingenious work in a day or two. I do love the plot and am trying to develop the characters right now. It is a work of unparalleled insanity.

I just need to catch up.

Funday Friday

Hello Friday! I have been counting down the days till your arrival. I cannot wait to fully enjoy you. Yes, I do have class till 11:30. Yes, I do have a test at 1:30. And yes, I do have work till 6. After that though, Friday, you are all mine!

Plans for this Halloween's Eve: costume party. I will be attending as a referee. Unoriginal? Yes. I usually pride myself on my originality, but I have been rather busy these days and just threw this together. On the bright side, I will have a whistle as well as yellow flags. I plan on throwing the flags everywhere. It will be quite entertaining to me.

Also, on Sunday starts NaNoWriMo. I attached the link to the post. It is basically a mayhem month of off the cuff writing. I am reasonably nervous, and I will keep you updated on how my writing pans out.

Finally, I finished "Are you there Vodka? It's me, Chelsea". It is laugh out loud funny and an easy read. I might read it again to find the best quotes. Ten out of ten.

Au revoir! I am off to embrace my Friday. May the spirits of Halloween be with you. And remember... Trick? or Treat?

Economic Boost

Three tests last week as well as paper made my week miserable, obviously. My face broke out like a caged animal and my hair shed like an aged golden retrievers. There exists only one logical remedy.

Retail. Therapy. I did just get my monthly paycheck three days ago. It has spent enough time just sitting in my bank account. How would you like to just sit around in a vault? I can't treat my money that way.

Today, measley paycheck, I will set you free. And hopefully replace you with a black skirt or trendy dress. Maybe even a new pair of stilettos.

Decision reached

Off the wall bizarre it is.

A decision

I have decided to embark upon a writing journey of great dedication. In the month of November, I will participate in Nanowrimo.

Details concerning plot and characters will be posted when they are decided. Right now, I am trying to decide the overall feel. Comical satire? Or off the wall bizarre?

Nice to see you, October.

Hello october! It appears I shall spend you studying. Quite the downer. Yet pumpkins and coffee do have a certain charm together.

Bring on the books!

Book Review

I have just finished Dan Brown's newest adventure, The Lost Symbol. I must say, he once again delivers a twisting and thrilling plot. It is action packed, yet challenges the reader to consider the impossible. Warning: do not read if you have a lot of school work to do, for once you begin, you will not be able to put it down.

My review: **** (4 out of 5)

The plot takes many unexpected twists, and each chapter ends with something that makes you need to keep reading. It also presented many concepts that I had never heard of before, thus google was a key companion while going through the novel. The only problem I had was the ending. It seemed the build up and the conclusion were not quite in sync. Overall, a must read if you are a Dan Brown fan. I would recommend it to anyone!

Human Migration

Today, my friends, I witnessed a great scene.

It was a slightly chilly Wednesday morning, and I found myself rising from slumber at an ungodly hour: 6 a.m. My reasons were valid for I had to finish typing a mass communications paper due at 8:30. Without my trusted mactop, it left me one option--the library. Thus, I intended to be the first one there at 7 a.m. when the great doors would open, revealing the needed computers inside.

I groggily drove to school, found an amazing parking spot (for who else would be up at this time?), and began the treck to the ominous building as the sun began to sparkle above me.

As I walked in a trance-like state, I noticed something odd. Fellow students began to file in in front, behind, and on sides on me, following the same path as I. This is when I realized. I was a part of the 6:45 migration to the library.

It was a beautiful thing to witness, and I realized it probably happened everyday. Yet, this was my first experience seeing the mass migration. Each student had the same sleep deprived gaze and slight drool running down from the corners of their mouth.

"Oy vey!" I thought. "Look at what I have been missing!" I chuckled to myself and made a mental note to blog about it. I then quickened my pace in an attempt to beat the girl walking next to me.

Au revoir, mon Mac.

Dear reader,

I write to you in great dismay. I have lost someone near and dear to me. She was a great part of my life, and yet she is no more. I find myself lost as well as bored without her; I am cut off from society when she is not with me. Oh Penelope! Come back, my fair white, come back.

It is true. Penelope is no longer with us, or me to be more precise. Her delicate Macbook screen was broken a few days ago, and she has been rendered useless. I have shipped her off to the great Macbook goddess, offering her monetary compensation if she may so heal the blackened screen. Unfortunately, the Macbook is quite busy, and Penelope will not be with me for a solid two weeks. Whatever shall I do!

I am already feeling withdrawals without my trusted Mactop. In class, I am reduced to taking notes with pen and paper. Imagine the horror! Facebook and Twitter have become unattainable goods to my technologically deprived being. I have to go the library to type to school papers. Simply thinking about these wretched occurences make my skin crawl.

Godspeed, Penelope. For without you, I am dying a slow and technologically painful death!

The Uni Man

Hello my small, but loyal readership. If you note today's title, you may question as to what exactly that means. No, he's not a unicorn man. Oh contrare!  He is the Unicycle Man.

For the past week, the Unicycle Man has been a hot topic on my campus. Why then do I blog about him today? Well, on the bus ride to school this morning, I spotted Unicycle Man (here to referred to as UM) following behind my bus. He was riding at the same speed as us! It reminded me of a little dog, chasing a bike. UM being the dog, the bus being the bike.

Why is UM different from all the other unicyclers? What makes him special?

UM this past weekend mastered a great feat. He unicycled 120 miles! The journey took him 15 hours. I think that this is quite an accomplishment. How many people can say they unicycled over 100 miles? Not many!

Unicycle: why have two wheels, when one you can have one?

Labor Day

Happy Labor Day to all!

I had the perfect labor day weekend. It began with a bar-b-que poolside. Yesterday consisted of nothing but Law & Order and munching on snacks.

Agenda for today: NCIS marathon. I'm in heaven.

Reasons I Hate my Night Class

Finance night class from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

  1. It's at night. Who goes to school at night? Well me now, but I'm not happy about it. Hence the list.
  2. My teacher, who is around 75 years old, obnoxiously coughs slash clears his throat every 8 minutes. "Now, uh, finance is necessary to ughhahahaugh understand the management of a ughughah corporation." Aggravation.
  3. My 89 year old teacher also drinks Dr. Pepper. I hate Dr. Pepper. Gross.
  4. It was 40 degrees in the classroom. I was wearing shorts and a tank top. Brrr.
  5. The guy behind me smells like gasoline.
  6. The guy to the right of me smells like smoke.
  7. My nose is running.
  8. I'm hungry and my stomach keeps loudly growling. Emberassing.
That's what I have so far. I'm sure next week when I am forced to suffer through another three hour long torture session, I may discover more reasons for hatred.

Adios until then.

Sunshine and Air

Today is the perfect day. Weather wise that is. It's a comfortable 70 degrees and the sun is shining and calling me outside. Thus, on my hour break between classes I am that loser sitting outside by herself on her laptop, sipping on iced coffee.

I can't help it. I love to be outside on these days, and I feel like I never get to bond with the sun anymore what with work, school, homework, and such.

Don't worry Sun. Today, you and I will have quality time together.

Conversation Snippet

New blog section that I will post when I find a part of an overheard conversation interesting, humorous, strange, etc.

Where: walking to class
Between: a guy and a girl

Conversation snippet: "Well you know, the most common hypothesis of cave paintings today is that they..."

Life is a Fashion Show?

Please help me justify this. I simply cannot wrap my head around the idea that people dress to impress to attend class. Maybe because I was forced into a mockery of a uniform my high school life, but I do not understand.

In high school, everyone looked the same. Same shoes. Same socks. Same awful skirt. Same shirt. There was no point in fixing you hair, doing you make up or accessorizing.

This morning at 7:50 a.m. as I awaited the bus's slow arrival, I could not help but notice how my shorts and neon yellow tank top seemed to clash with other girls prim and proper attire. Like how prim? you ask. Well, for example, a girl prances to the bus stop in a knee length, strapless pale cream dress. Her dyed blonde hair straightened to perfection and a headband is donned with a green fake flower on the side of it. I wanted to grab a watering can and sprinkle some moisture on her head, but held back the impulse.

To be honest, they are lucky that I brush my teeth and slap on some make up to hide my horrendous circles. Maybe I'm the one that needs to change my wardrobe. I just can't see being so dressed up for class comfortable for the four hours that you are on campus. Not to mention all the walking around campus that you do!

Bleh. Not for me. I'll take my shorts and t-shirts, thank you very much.

Question for the Ages

So my sister was in religion class today and her teacher posed an interesting question to them. At least I think it's interesting. It beckons to my inner philosopher, and yes, I do have an inner philosopher.

"If you could have one of the following, what would it be? Live forever. Endless money. Ability to read minds. Always being happy."

I obviously knew that infinite money was the wrong choice in this case, so I did not consider it.

I immediately ruled out the last two. The ability to read minds, although in theory sounds like a positive, the movie "What Women Want" ruined that for me. Voices in your head that you can't turn off or control... sounds like a crazy person to me. Not to mention annoying. Plus, what about that mean b-word of a girl that you know. I do NOT want to know what she thinks about me. No thanks. Also, the always being happy sounds like a winner at first too. Let's think about it though. Who wants to be happy all the time? Not I. Sometimes we need to be mad or sad or chill. That's impossible when you're happy all the time. How could I cry in "The Notebook" if I was always happy. Plus, if you're happy all the time, you become accustomed to the happiness, thus your happy feeling becomes normal. Being happy would just feel like the average to you.

Finally I thought about living forever. Although it could be nice, I'm not sure if the drawbacks would outweigh the benefits. You would have time to travel anywhere you wanted, and you could meet billions of interesting people. You would gain knowledge and see the world progress (or digress). Yet, everyone that you would ever meet and care about would eventually pass on and leave you. Also, I ask at what state our bodies would be. Would we keep a young adult body or would our physical being continue to decay for eternity?

I made a complete circle and looked again at infinite money. Although money doesn't buy happiness, this option seems the most practical. The other options don't seem at all appealing and seem to point to a life full of discontent.

Welcome Back

It's official. I fell off the face of the Earth for a couple of weeks. But back I am! One note: Sorority Rush Week takes over your life.

Now that I am a functioning, social being again, I would like to fill you in on some things. First, today is the first day school. My alarm blared at 7:15 and up I rose. Unwillingly, of course. The only thing that lured me from my comfy covers was the drafting aroma of coffee being made in the kitchen.

This year, since I am aging and becoming a mature adult (I use the word adult loosely), I have determined to become a more sophisticated dresser. No more pajamas and unbrushed hair. I will keep you up to date on how the style makeover goes. I have little faith it will last all semester, but a girl can hope!

I moved into a new apartment, and it is the first time that I have a room to myself. It's amazing and still surprisingly clean. A lil Wayne poster hangs in the corner alongside a Bob Marley and a Bourbon art poster is above my bed. All in all, I would say the feel that my room generates is a mellow one. I'm pleased.

Well that's my update. More to come and on a regular basis, I promise. Right now, I am sitting in the coffee shop of the school library. A great place to people watch, might I add. Right now, I am watching Cyrus, the new employee, run around in a cluster of confusion as he attempts to make seven drinks at once. Always entertaining.

A Day in the City

I woke up today with a mission in mind: to spend my day in some way other than sleeping and eating and roaming the house in my pajamas.

I jump started from my chaotic dreams at a decent hour this morning, possibly even early. I mean I was in a reasonably alert state before noon. Quite an impressive feat if I must say so myself. With the whole day ahead of me, I realized I could go anywhere and do anything... as long as the anywhere was reachable with a quarter tank of gas, that is. Food, always my main motivating factor, directed me to venture into the city for a dining experience that combined good taste and even better people watching.

I decided to dress for the part. I mean, this is the most exciting adventure I have embarked upon in a while. I threw on a newly purchased dress, applied some make-up, and attempted to do something with my unruly hair. That something ended up being a side braid with my long locks whipped into a bun at the base of my neck. Overall, I decided I looked half way presentable, or at least I would not be confused with the homeless man begging on the corner. I wish I could say that scenario hasn't happened before...

I decided upon a tourist spot to dine. After-all, the bright atmosphere and loaded nachos were impossible to pass up. My waiter, Geraldo if I'm not mistaken, unloaded his case of the Mondays on me, while I stole glances at his shinning, bald head. I couldn't help but wonder, "Did he wax his head to get it that shiny or is that a natural feature of bald men?" It is a hairless conundrum that I have been wondering about for quite some time now.

After over-eating on the cheesy, jalapeno, sour cream goodness, I decided to walk around the open market, promising that it would burn off some calories and that my wallet would stay sealed closed. Unless, of course, there was something positively unique that must be bought.

As I sauntered up and down the cart made aisles, I managed to resist the impulse to purchase every knick knack that I found slightly interesting. As I gazed at a Bob Marley four cd collection, a woman next to me picked up "The Classic Blues" cd set. I glanced over my shoulder at her and of course made awkward eye contact.

"I love your dress!" She stated with genuineness. I couldn't help but smile back and reply with a thanks. Maybe my efforts at getting ready this morning had paid off after all. I felt slightly smug with myself to be honest. Confidence boost?

After a little over an hour of meandering, I set out back to the car, holding my leftovers and two new pairs of sunglasses. Ok... I needed the sunglasses. Who knows the next time I'll be able to find a pair of neon orange sunglasses! It was a now or never situation. I chose now.

A few drops of rain began to pound on my shoulders, as I unlocked the car and hopped in the driver's seat. On the way home, the rain proved to make traffic horrid. As I sat behind an Escalade truck with a broken tail light, waiting for the light to turn green, I fidgeted in aggravation with my dress and grabbed the front inside by my neck. To my surprise, I felt something poke back at me.

That's not suppose to be there, I thought, still not sure what this discovery was. I glanced down only to see that the dress tag was perched between my index and thumb in the front of my dress.

Yes, my dress had been on backwards the entire day.

Yes, that did happen.

Projects and Happenings

Good afternoon, Blog World!

I am going to update you upon the current projects in my life.

Books
  1. The Lie by O. H. Bennett- - This novel is about a young man who commits a grave crime, but then proceeds to lie his way out of guilt. He spins a complex web that continues to grow and where one lie turns into many others. Will he come clean? Will he get caught? Will this book be good? I'm not sure. I'm only on chapter 5.
  2. Somebody's Gotta Say It by Neal Boortz- - I have not started this non-fiction tirade against liberal thoughts, but it was in the bargain section. How could I pass it up? I obviously could not. I will keep you posted on how it turns out.
Art
  1. I am working on a Dumbo sketch ((you know. the cartoon character with big ears?)) The outline is done, but I have to finish the shading. Done in pencil on sketch paper. Don't worry. When I finish the drawing, I will be sure to post a picture of the completed product. I don't think it will take that much longer.                                                                                                                                            Note: Drawing cartoon characters might just be my favorite thing to do. It's a guilty pleasure that I have.
  2. I just started on a painting the other day. A random urge to fling paint onto a canvas overcame me, and who am I to resist such urges? It is definitely far from Picasso's work, but I attempted to create a jazz scene inspired by the streets of New Orleans. In the right is a man playing the trumpet, and on the left is another person sitting down playing the drums. The background is a beige slash gray and the men and instruments are in black with yelllow accents. I began painting musical notes in lime green and yellow, but did not finish. The inspiration to create left me as sudden as it overtook me. Hopefully I will finish it one of these days. If I do, a picture will be posted of my feeble attempt at creativity.

Basically, I am trying to keep myself occupied in my remaining seven days of Summer. A feat not easily accomplished.

Farewell for now.

Sunday Funday

Here I am. Blogging. Definitely did not see that coming. Me? Blogger? Quite a twist, my friends, quite a twist.

Now I assume you are asking yourself, "What is this blog? How will it enhance my life?"

To the latter question, it probably will not enhance your life. In fact, it may dehance it, just to warn you. As a disclaimer, I do not claim my blog will be entertaining or comical. A gal can hope, but I make no promises. Yet blog I will.

To the former question, I cannot answer for I have not decided what this blog is about, per-say. I do have a general idea. Life. My life. A life. Life. Think of it as more of a stream of consciousness. A jotting down of events, hopefully entertaining ones, that happen to me from day to day.

Well, buckle up and hold on tight. We are about to embark on a blogging ride. Accelerator will be used.
